Xiamen Airport to build new terminal building for budget airlines

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport plans to build a special terminal building for low-cost airlines such as Spring Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air and Tiger Airways, according to Wang Xiaolin, CEO of Xiamen International Airport Co., Ltd.
The new terminal building will cover an area of tens of thousands of square meters and currently the construction plan has been finished. It is expected to come into service by the end of this year.
Upon the completion of the new terminal building, the efficiency of the airport’s service for budget airlines is expected to be greatly improved.
It is reported that in order to reduce the landing distance to save fuel, the special terminal building for budget airlines will be closer to the runway than common terminal buildings. The boarding procedures also will be simplified.
